Education:
After receiving a B.A. in French from the Montclair State College (NJ) in 1967, Dr. Ranwez pursued graduate study in French and Italian Literatures at the University of Missouri thanks to an NDEA Scholarship for graduate studies. He was awarded the Ph.D. in 1973. He has also studied at the University of Chicago, Washington University and Princeton thanks to grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Teaching and Research Interests:
He is the author of "Jean-Paul Sartre's Les Temps Modernes: A Literary History" (Whitston Publishing Co.) and a number of articles on both literature and pedagogy. In addition to teaching French Language and Culture courses in the Multimedia Classrooms of the Plaza Building, his interests include French theatre and has been an actor with the Alliance and Co. French Repertory for twenty years. He is also an active reviewer of fictional works for "The French Review."
Every two years he takes MSCD students for a four week study program (June) in
Hyères, France, situated between Nice and Marseille.

Affiliations:
He served on the National Commission on Student Standards of the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF), and is active in the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL). He also served as Editor of the Newsletter of the Colorado Congress of Foreign Language Teachers (CCFLT) for two years.
Throughout his tenure at MSCD he has been active on a number of committees and is presently on the MSCD Program Review Committee which evaluates institutional Departments. He also created the MSCD Honors Program which he directed for ten years. He is also the founding faculty advisor for the MSCD Chapter of Golden Key International Honour Society.
In 1992 Dr. Ranwez was awarded the "Chevalier de l'Ordre des Palmes Académiques" by the French Ministries of Culture and Education. This prestigious award recognizes life long professional accomplishments and cultural contributions to education.
