Phase II of Laptop Scanning
October 26, 2006
Dear Colleagues:
Information Technology is ready to begin Phase II of scanning college laptop computers for Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and installing a secure image that includes encryption software. During Phase I, the laptops of college employees with access to sensitive data were scanned and re-imaged.
Those who have been assigned a College laptop will receive an email from IT that has outlined steps of the process and a "Laptop Check-In"
form that must be completed in advance. The email will also provide a two-week timeline within which an appointment must be scheduled to deliver the laptop to the IT Help Desk. The scanning and imaging process may take up to three (3) business days. Loaners will be made available upon request.
There are more than 400 laptops that need to go through this process.
We hope to schedule 10 per week over the next several months.
I want to thank everyone for their understanding and cooperation as we work toward securing all college information and technology.
Sincerely,
George Middlemist
Interim Vice President of Information Technology
