Changes are Coming
December 7, 2006

As part of the Metro State Security Initiatives Project, you will notice the following changes when you return from winter break:

You will be receiving additional information on these changes shortly. In the meantime, here are a few tips for creating a strong password:

  1. The strength of your password is related to its length, complexity, and randomness.
  2. Do not think in terms of a pass ‘WORD’, but instead think of a pass ‘PHRASE’.
  3. The best passwords have 8-14+ characters with uppercase, lowercase, and numerical characters mixed in.
  4. Develop your own ‘formula’ when building your password and use the same ‘formula’ every time you change your password.
  5. Do not write down your passwords; instead write down something that will remind you of your passwords (like your formula).

Please watch for more tips and training on creating strong passwords.
