NIFA COMPETITION EVENTS

  All of MSCD's Flight Team classroom and practice activities are geared to prepare SAFECON contestants for competing with the nation's best student aviators preparing for a career as professional pilots. The events are designed by NIFA to develop the skills needed for professional flying.

  Of the competition events, there are seven ground events and five flying events.

Ground Events Include:

• Preflight
• Simulator
• Simulated, Comprehensive, Air Navigation (SCAN Test)
• Manual Flight Computer (MFC Test)
• Aircraft Identification (ACID Test)
• IFR Simulator
• Electronic Computer Accuracy (sometimes held at nationals)

Flight Events Include:

• Short Field Landings
• Power Off Landings
• Message Drop
• VFR Navigation
• IFR Precision Flight
