Faculty: Walter Barr
Dr. Walter Barr is Chair of The Department of Music at The Metropolitan State College of Denver. He holds a doctorate in music from Arizona State University with post-doctoral work at the Eastman School of Music. His writing credentials include music for film, jingles, orchestral settings, jazz, salsa, pop, choral, and concert band. His conducting credentials include work with Clare Fischer, Wynton Marsalis, Dizzy Gillespie, Dr. Billy Taylor, Terence Blanchard, Bobby Shew, and Jon Faddis As a professional trumpet performer he has played with Lena Horne, Ella Fitzgerald, Mel Torme, Sammy Davis Jr., Ray Charles, Diahann Carroll, Michael Feinstein, Dave Brubeck, Joe Williams, Michel LeGrand, Gladys Knight, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Lou Rawls, Elvis Presley plus numerous Broadway shows. |
