As
the largest undergraduate, urban institution in the United States, the
primary objective of Metropolitan State College of Denver (MSCD) is to
provide excellence in treaching and learning. Although teaching is the
main focus of the institution, faculty and professional staff are strongly
encouraged to participate in grant activities and scholarly pursuits.
Scholarship
and research activities assist professors in maintaining excellence and
vitality in the classroom, and the most up-to-date instructional methodologies.
Research and scholarly activities are expected to support and sustain
MSCD's mission and academic goals. It is the responsibility of faculty
to engage in scholarly activities that will contribute to their discipline,
communicate results of pursuits to colleagues and the public, and align
with MSCD's mission and goals.

Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) is to assist prinicipal investigators
and grant writers with submission of grant applications to federal, state
and local sponsors. It is the intention of OSP to provide insights into
the grant process and available support, and review sponsored program
administration requirements. Ways in which OSP is available to assist
principal investigators during the initial phases of proposal preparation
include:
1. Conduct funding searches
2.
Retrieve and/or review sponsor guidelines
3.
Identify any special sponsor requirements
4.
Locate necessary forms, authorizations and assurances
5.
Review guidelines and relate any budget provisions needed to be in compliance
with requirements of sponsor and/or the institution.
OSP
continues to explore ways of improving the assistance to grant writers
and improving the success rates of submissions. In partnership with principal
investigators, OSP provides the Metro State college community with approximately
$8 million annually in grants and contracts...
