Under the auspices of the Department of Speech Communication, students are afforded the opportunity to gain firsthand experiences in radio, television, and film provided by industry, government, business, public and commercial telecommunication centers. Broadcasting students may register for internships in one of two ways. Telecommunication internships (TLC 2490 and TLC 3490) are administered by the Department of Speech Communication. Speech Communication internships (SPE 2980 and SPE 3980) are administered by the MSCD Cooperative Education program in conjunction with the Speech Department. Both types of internships meet graduation requirements. Broadcasting students become eligible for internships upon the completion of six hours in broadcasting-telecommunication courses at MSCD.
