Metro’s last trip out of state ended in one loss, one tie and no
goals. The team’s latest trip to Billings, Mont. was a prettier
sight as the Roadrunners got two wins, no losses, and seven goals, defeating
the University of Mary 5-0 and Montana State-Billings 2-1 on Oct. 7 and
8.
Nuggets storm
Auraria with Dunlap in tow
By Jeremy Johnson
Sitting on the sideline with a notebook in hand and intensity in his
eyes, Mike Dunlap looked like the same coach Metro had grown to love

It was a day of upsets in Colorado on Oct. 7, most notably for the University
of Colorado Buffaloes. Their football team lost in triple overtime at
home to Baylor, 34-31. But the real crusher was their No.1-ranked Division
III hockey team getting stunned by the Roadrunners, 6-4, at The Edge
Ice Arena in Littleton.

Focused, quiet and hunched over in chairs resembling the renegade machines
of Mad Max, the Denver Harlequins wheelchair rugby team rolled onto the
court for a little four-on-four team practice Oct. 4 at the Auraria Events
Center.
A state of mind
compared to a matter of heart
By Jeremy Johnson
Walking into the Auraria Event Center gymnasium, the sounds compounded
the intensity on the players’ faces. Metal on metal. Explosions
of aluminum and steel. Grunts and chatter worthy of a Monday night in
the NFL. Welcome to wheelchair rugby.
