News Briefs

Registration for spring semester coming soon

Students will be able to register for spring classes beginning Nov. 3 starting with seniors. The spring semester schedule of classes will be posted on Metro Connect as early as Oct. 15.
Students will no longer receive registration permits through the mail. To access permits, log on to Campus Pipeline, click on the link ìregistration permit info for spring 2004,î and follow the directions.

Warrior Women hit the gym

A new weight-training program, Warrior Women on Weights, has arrived at Campus Recreation. Women can learn techniques and participate in fitness with the support of other women.
Workshops are free and students may attend from 1-2 p.m. on Oct. 20 in PER 110. Call CRA at (303) 556-4618.

Last day for NC withdrawal

Students interested in withdrawing from a class must do so by Oct. 21 in order to receive an ìNC.î A faculty signature is required.
For information, contact the Registrarís Office in Central Classroom room 105, at (303) 556-3991.

Taking control of your health

Dr. Kedar N. Presad, a researcher of nutrition and cancer, will be speaking from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 21 in St. Cajetanís.
New research on vitamins will be shared as well as certain dietary factors that can affect oneís health.

Yes or no to same-sex marriages?

From 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Oct. 22 there will be a debate in the Tivoli Multicultural Lounge. Students will have the opportunity to share and listen to othersí viewpoints on same-sex marriages.

Legal education in small-claims court

A workshop will be held from noon to 3 p.m. in Tivoli Room 442 on Oct. 23 and features a qualified attorney who will explain the basics of filing a small-claims case and answer individual questions.

Corrections

In last weekís issue of The Metropolitan the Student Government Assemblyís vice president for Academic Affairsí name was misspelled. It should have read: Krista Kaufmann.
Also, in last weekís story covering domestic violence, Regina Land holds an M.A. in expressive therapies and is the Instituteís interim associate director. Cheryl Sipe is not the assistant director, but rather program assistant I.
