Metro on verge of record enrollment
As of Aug. 24, Metro’s headcount is 20,992, which is 3.1 percent higher than last year’s second day of classes.

College admissions officials attribute the growth to a higher number of continuing students returning for Fall semester. The number of new freshmen and transfer students is roughly the same as last year.

According to the registrar’s office, many classes are full, including the wait lists.

Final numbers will be available after the Sept. 8 census.

Independent Degree Program offers new courses
Beginning this fall, Metro students interested in cyber crime fighting or computer game development will have the option of designing Independent Degree Programs for each subject.

A series of recommended courses students could structure into an IDP in computer security or computer game design was developed by Computer Science professor Steve Beatty, along with the Center for Individualized Learning.
