Brian Wilson presents. SmiLE
Finally we have a completed follow up to Pet Sounds . SmiLE is an exuberant song cycle of loss, longing, and redemption. Our loss has been felt in the low quality of bootlegs that have circulated over the last 37 years. The longing was felt by anyone disappointed by the albums following Pet Sounds . SmiLE's arrival is made all the more sweeter by it's extended absence. Even the songs that have been released as singles and on other albums shine with a newfound charm. "Heroes and Villains" has been lengthened with "feels" from the songs to come, "Surf's Up" maintains all of its sweetness, and "Good Vibrations" still radiates. All songs have been rerecorded and sound fresher than ever. Redemption is found in the fact that we now have a completed album with a feel all it's own, and the feelings this album contains cannot be found anywhere else. |
