As third party support continues to grow and root into America’s political system, debate sparks about the instant runoff voting system. If implemented, it would allow people to vote their conscience, giving voters a real freedom of choice. more >>

“Are you ready?” Lord Wayne Allard asked.
“Sure, sure,” replied Lord Peter Coors. He winked lewdly. “After the time I had at the brothel last night, I’m ready for anything. I’ll tell you, those who say money can’t buy you love are dead wrong. It’ll buy you six buxom loves all at once, and a gallon of perfumed oil to boot.” more >>
After the 2000 Election disaster, the idea of being able to vote in 2004 seemed very exciting. As the months and years of King George II’s reign passed, the famous quote “If voting changed anything, it would be illegal” started making more sense to me. Now, with Nov. 2 so close, I find myself disenchanted with voting. more >>
Apparently elementary schools are teaching more than the basics we all grew up with. Today’s students are getting visual lessons in hand-to-hand combat, at least in Macon, Georgia they are. more >>
Trying to find truth in anything remotely political is akin to discovering—by way of contact—a needle in a haystack. Even if some is found, it still stings. more >>
The state of Metro’s online message boards is unacceptable. Recently, a contributor to The Metropolitan was insulted and degraded in a way that is simply disgusting. A person ridiculed our contributor by posting on the Creative Resistance message board. They referred to her rape as “unbelievable” because the person says “she is too ugly to rape”—and I’m paraphrasing kindly.

Why do young people rely on comedy shows for their news?
We're in a culture that has been programmed in an entertainment-oriented direction. Newsbiz and Showbiz had merged a long time ago. So, in a way, if you want to convey serious ideas and you make them comedy, funny, more people...

The word "goth" conjures up images of humorless vampire wannabes lounging around a darkened parlor, sipping absinthe and discussing the dark arts. It might not be fair to paint the whole scene with such a broad brush, but, like most stereotypes, there's an element of truth to this one. more >>

I can't believe it! I remember talking to Metro men's soccer 'keeper David McReavy early in the season and hearing how optimistic he was about this year's squad. And at 13-3-1, I understand now what he was so positive about. At the same time, the women's soccer team had probably thought positively of their transfer sophomore and the 22 goals and 53 points Kylee Hanavan has had. Her phenomenal season has even been better than her counterpart and former leading scorer Amy Leichliter's. Both of these teams have been great all season and will have one more thing in common on Oct. 27: they both will have seemingly everything on the line when they face Regis. more >>
