Snow season gets a jump-start

A student walks under a snow-covered tree the morning of Nov. 1. Denver received its first snowfall of the season beginning around 8 p.m. on Halloween, with reports of 3.7 inches of snow in and around the Metro-Denver area. According to reports by the National Weather Service, snow has fallen in Denver on Halloween only nine times in the last 50 years, only leaving measurable snowfall seven of those. The last Halloween snowfall was in 2002 and left 1.2 inches of snowfall.
