Metro literacy program receives $15,000 grant
Metro's Family Literacy Program received a pre-holiday boost last week in the form of a $15,000 grant from the Post-News Charities, a fund of the McCormick Tribune Foundation.
"We started the Family Literacy Program in the spring of 1994 with a mini-grant from the Denver Housing Authority," said Adriann Wycoff, director of the program, adding that it has grown in the intervening years.
Through the Family Literacy Program, Metro faculty and students provide Spanish-language GED classes, English as a Second Language classes and family literacy classes for parents with children ages 5 and under, to low-income neighborhoods.
