WORKING IT
By Gary Boley

Q: Are their any great professions to get into for the future
where there will be lots of opportunity?
A: First,
never go into a major or career based on how hot it currently
is because the market is smarter than you and will change.
With that said, the Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts the
following professions will experience a labor shortage now
and in the future: registered nurses are at the top with
a 30 percent shortage, even though the median salary is $54,000.
Librarians may experience a 40 percent shortage by 2009,
even though their median salary is $47,000. The last of the
three are pharmacists, as the need for prescriptions soars
35 percent. By the way, their median salary is $87,000!
Study hard and
well because being a knowledgeable worker can make you a
highly recruited candidate. |
