chief broom
The Bluebird Theater, Jan. 24, 8 p.m.

Chief Broom is ÷ hold your breath for this one ÷ yet another jam-style band from Boulder. Self-described as a blend of ãblues, rock, funk, jazz, classical and visceral folk,ä its music is a glimpse into some strange parallel universe where blending as many diffuse styles of music together as possible is a virtue. While the songwriting is good enough to set the band apart from the improvisational flailings that plague many others of their ilk, really, thatâs like saying itâs the nicest of the damned. Oh, and the band has a new self-titled CD out too, if you like that sort of thing. $8.
