The Student Travel Program

The Metro State Student Travel Program is pleased to announce the availability of student travel grants to help fund the cost of transportation, registration and lodging for qualified individuals or student groups wishing to attend regional and national educational conferences. Individual students or student groups may apply for funding once each academic year. The following funding opportunities are available:

  • Individuals: up to $650.00 per event (one per year)
  • Groups: up to $2,000 per event (one per year)

Travel proposals are available on-line. Obtain the necessary signatures and submit to Tivoli 305 by the date indicated on the "Proposal Submission Schedule." Students should be sure to complete all the required information. In response to the narrative section of the proposal, students are advised to answer each question thoughtfully, using proper English, grammar, spelling and punctuation. A paragraph addressing each question is recommended.

To Apply:

  • First, review the schedule for deadlines for proposal due dates!
  • Then, read the attached Student Travel Program Guidelines for eligibility criteria, application procedures, specifics on funding, stipulations, etc.
  • Call the Director of Student Travel at least two weeks in advance of proposal submission date to schedule a meeting to discuss specifics of proposed travel.
  • Your travel proposal may be completed on-line. After completing your proposal, download (print) it from your computer.
  • Be sure to answer ALL questions and secure all required signatures (incomplete proposals will not be accepted).
  • Include a copy of the official conference brochure, completed and signed registration forms for each student applying for funding, and lodging information, including room rates and local taxes, if applicable.
  • If this is an individual application, submit one cover sheet and one narrative page, along with signed “Student Responsibilities and Expected Conduct” form and “Travel Advisors Role and Responsibilities” form.
  • If this is a group application, submit one cover sheet and one narrative page on behalf of the group by designating a “lead student” and then attaching a list of all students and relevant personal data for each additional student, along with signed “Student Responsibilities and Expected Conduct” forms for every student and a signed “Travel Advisors Role and Responsibilities” form.
  • Refer questions regarding these requirements to the Director of Student Travel.
