This lecture with professor Carol Quinn is a celebration of the life and work of 19th century GLBT rights advocate Karl Heinrich Ulrichs. In particular, Quinn will focus on Ulrich’s response to the Church concerning the scriptural passage Romans 1:26-27 (the "anti-homosexual" passage), and his advocacy for same sex marriage. The objective of this lecture is to understand why his life and work are so honored in Europe today.
Quinn is Assistant Professor of Philosophy and coordinator of the Genders and Sexuality minor.She is the co-editor of the anthology "Queer Philosophy" and is the co-chair of the International Society of Lesbian and Gay Philosophy, and editor of its publication. |
