The Sankofa Lecture Series, the only conference in the region that focuses on the use of art and culture to enhance educational practices; situates the pedagogy and influence of Hip-Hop as a site of cultural literacy, identity formation, and tool for innovative and effective teaching.
Please join the Department of Africana Studies as we host this event in partnership with stakeholders in academia, business, and the Denver community.
Our keynote speaker is Hip-Hop scholar and pioneer, Chuck D, co-founder of the legendary group Public Enemy; 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honorees. The day includes workshops centered on the conference theme, and Chuck D’s keynote address. All activities are free and open to the public.
