Ethiopia Study Abroad Program

Grant Approved for Summer 2012 Semester at Axsum University

SPECIAL SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE TO STUDY IN ETHIOPIA – Summer 2012

Metro State has received a grant from the U. S. Department of State to develop study abroad programs with our partner institution, Aksum University, in Ethiopia. 


The grant will allow the college to take a group of 15 Metro State students to study at Aksum University for two months during summer 2012. The grant will cover airfare, lodging, meals, and several field trips in Ethiopia. Students will need to pay for tuition for 9 hours, passport fees, vaccinations, books, and personal expenses. Students will be recruited during Fall 2011. Basic requirements include: 2.5 GPA; completion of 30 credits at Metro State; majoring in Teacher Ed, Social Sciences, Anthropology, or Amharic language; eligible to receive financial aid; willingness to engage in service learning; must be able to use courses towards major, minor, or electives; must participate in all phases of the project; must be adaptable to Aksum/Ethiopia living conditions.
