Access Center Student Ambassador Program
The Access Center has established a Student Ambassador Program. Selected ambassadors will participate in various volunteer positions throughout each semester. The role of the ambassador is to promote awareness of the services provided through the Access Center and support other individuals with disabilities as they pursue higher educational goals.
Ambassadors must meet the following criteria:
-
Achieved minimum Cumulative GPA of 2.5
-
Registered student with the Access Center
-
Completed 12 or more college credits
Responsibilities may include but not be limited to:
-
Volunteering at the Annual Auraria Disability Awareness Festival
-
Mentoring High School Students with Disabilities and/or new students to Metro State
-
Volunteering for the Access Center STEP (Supportive Education Transition Program) for high school students with disabilities transitioning to college
-
Giving tours of the Auraria Campus and/or leading scavenger hunts designed to acquaint students with support services provided at Metro State
-
Representing the Access Center during community outreach initiatives, New Student Soar Orientations, Metro State’s Open House, Spring Fling and Fall Fest
-
Serve as a Peer Mentor to fellow students with disabilities
Ambassadors will not be expected to attend and/or participate in every activity as scheduling conflicts are likely to occur but will be expected to “make a best faith effort” to participate in as many events as possible when called upon. T-Shirts and Access Center Backpacks will be provided to Ambassadors. Once 20 hours of volunteer service have been logged, the Ambassador’s log sheet can be exchanged for a “Volunteer Certificate”.
If you wish to participate in the Ambassador Program, please fill out the following application form below. You will be contacted via Metro Email if you have been approved for the program.
