At MSU Denver, you can become anything you aspire to be.
As the star of your own future, you bring the motivation and talent for your educational success. Metropolitan State University of Denver brings the high-quality, individualized education that makes sense in our evolving, multicultural and increasingly diverse world.
Now that you've been accepted to MSU Denver and are ready to get started, we're ready to help you with the process. Just follow these steps to success and you'll be on your way to achieving your academic goals.
1. STUDENT ID NUMBER
As an accepted student, you will receive your "Student ID" the 9-digit "900" number in your acceptance letter. You are identified in our system by your Student ID number, so it is important to have it on hand when contacting any MSU Denver department. You can also get your student id number from the Office of Admissions.
2.ACTIVATE YOUR CONNECTU ACCOUNT
ConnectU is the University's official means of communication with students. Log in to ConnectU at https://connectu.msudenver.edu/cp/home/displaylogin and follow the instructions for “New User.” Questions? Call the Information Technology Call Center Help Desk (303-352-7548) if you have any problems logging in. Computer access is available on campus in the Auraria Library and Tivoli Student Union.
3. COLORADO STATE RESIDENTS
Colorado resident students qualify for a College Opportunity Fund (COF) stipend which may pay a portion of in-state tuition. Complete the COF application form http://www.collegeincolorado.org/. You need to “authorize” the COF stipend each semester when you register for classes through MetroConnect.
Complete assessment tests (if needed, based on ACT scores or transfer credits) in the Assessment & Testing Office (Tivoli Student Union, Room 347). Call 303-556-3677, or go to http://www.mscd.edu/testing with questions.
ALL degree-seeking students are required to complete an orientation as part of the pre-enrollment process. Degree-seeking transfer students may complete the orientation requirement online. Go to www.mscd.edu/nso for more information, dates, times and locations.
6. PREVIOUS COLLEGE CREDITS
Contact the Transfer Services Office in Student Success Building 180 (303-556-3774) or at firstname.lastname@example.org. Also, request that your official transcripts from each institution of higher education you attended be sent to MSU Denver.
7. ADVISING & REGISTRATION
Meet with an academic advisor to plan your academic path. If you choose the SOAR Experience orientation program, you will register and receive advising at that time. If you complete the orientation requirement via a different program, visit http://www.mscd.edu/advising/student/ for information on scheduling and preparing for a meeting with an advisor. Register early to avoid the late registration fee. (Student Success Building 170)
8. FINANCIAL AID/SCHOLARSHIPS
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) www.fafsa.ed.gov. Our school code is 001360. Contact Financial Aid (303-556-8593) if you have questions after completing your FAFSA form, and to ensure that your financial aid file is complete. 9. BOOKS/SUPPLIES/STUDENT ID

11. MANDATORY HEALTH INSURANCE REQUIREMENT (starting July 1, 2011)
All students (undergraduate/graduate) taking nine or more credits in a semester are required to submit proof of health insurance that meets the College compliance standards. An insurance compliance form is required each semester you are taking nine or more credit hours and must be submitted by the deadline for the specific semester. You may elect to purchase the College-offered health insurance that meets the college compliance standards. Non-compliant students will have a registration "hold" placed on their account preventing future registrations. For questions, call the Student Health Insurance Office at 303-556-2525, stop by the office in Plaza 149 or go to the website here.
12. MANDATORY IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENT
All students are required by the College to submit proof of immunization. During your first semester of attendance (or anytime after receiving a MSU Denver ID number) you must submit the required documentation directly to the Auraria Immunization Office located in the Plaza Building 149. A “hold” will be placed on your student account preventing future registrations if you don't comply by October 1 (for first-time-to-MSU Denver- students beginning coursework in the Fall semester) or by March 1 (for first-time–to-Metro State students beginning coursework in the Spring or Summer semester.) Go to http://www.mscd.edu/healthcenter/immunization/ for specific policy information or stop by the Immunization Office.
When you apply to MSU Denver, you will be asked a series of questions to determine your residency status for in-state or out-of-state tuition. All students who apply and seek to qualify for in-state tuition, as well as other forms of state or institutional aid, are subject to the requirements of HB 1023 (Lawful Presence Law). Any student whose lawful presence is verified through the process of completing an application for COF or by completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be considered to have met the requirements.
