Is the GMAT (Graduate Management Admissions Test) required for admission?
Yes, unless you meet the other requirements in order to waive the GMAT. It is recommended that you take it as soon as possible. Request that your scores be reported directly to Metropolitan State University of Denver. The school’s code number is S51-6H-08. Please note GRE scores are not accepted in place of the GMAT. There is no minimum score requirement.
Do I still need to take the GMAT if I am a MSU Denver student?
Unless you meet one of the other required admissions criteria, the Graduate management Admission Test (GMAT) is required of all applicants. Most accredited graduate business degree programs will require the GMAT exam for acceptance into a program.
What is the minimum GMAT required for applying to the MPAcc program?
We do not have a minimum score requirement, but most admitted students have scored a minimum of 500. Please keep in mind that your GMAT scores are only one of a number of criteria we review in determining admission. If your scores are below our average or do not fall within this range, we still encourage you to apply. You may, however, want to consider retaking the GMAT to improve your score.
When should I plan to take the GMAT?
You must have taken the GMAT exam before you make application to the MPAcc program. The program recommends that you allow at least 20 days for the school to receive official scores. For information on the GMAT, you can call 1-800-GMAT-NOW or visit the GMAT website.
Is there a GPA requirement for applying to the MPAcc Program?
We do not have a minimum GPA requirement. Past experience indicates that a 3.0 GPA, or better is the common threshold for successful master’s students.
Can I reapply to the MPAcc program if I wasn’t accepted previously?
Yes. It is suggested that in order to increase your chances of acceptance, you should either retake the GMAT or try to increase your GPA by retaking classes.
If I am accepted into the Integrated 3+2 program, can I receive my bachelor’s degree after completing the course requirements?
No. The MPAcc Integrated 3+2 program is a package deal -- students receive both the BS and the MPA degrees when all undergraduate and graduate courses are completed.
What is the difference between the Integrated 3+2 and the Traditional 4+1 option?
The Traditional 4+1 MPAcc option is designed for students who have earned a bachelor’s degree (or will have earned a bachelor’s degree by the time of admission to the MPAcc) from any 4-year accredited institution. The Integrated 3+2 MPAcc option is designed for students admitted to the MSU Denver's School of Business who have not earned a bachelor’s degree. Upon completion of the 3+2 MPAcc, students will earn a BS degree in accounting as well as an MPA degree.
I am interested in the MPAcc Program at the MSU Denver. Can I make an appointment to talk with an admissions advisor?

What is the cost for the program?
The cost for the Master of Professional Accountancy Program is approximately $367 per credit hour. (Not including the Universities mandatory fees) This is roughly one half to two thirds the cost compared to other accounting masters courses offered by some local universities. Are day or evening classes available?
Currently, most classes are offered in the evenings. However, as the program grows in the future, more classes and times will be available. Check the current schedule for more information.
Are online classes available?
Because the program places a heavy emphasis on the development of written and oral communication skills, teamwork and critical thinking skills, online classes are not offered. Students will take advantage of small class sizes and high student/instructor contact.
How long does it take to complete the degree?
Students can complete the degree in as little as one year, but are required to complete the degree within 6 calendar years. This gives students the flexibility to complete the degree while maintaining outside responsibilities.
What is considered full time?
Students are considered full-time in fall and spring semesters if they are registered for 9 credit hours and half-time if they are registered for 5 credit hours.
Is financial aid available?
Students applying for MSU Denver master's programs can also apply for Federal Perkins Loans, Federal Work Study and Federal Stafford Loans. The menu of financial aid options for master’s students will grow over time. It is the goal of the University to offer grant and scholarship options to graduate students in the future. Will there be internships available?
In conjunction with the Applied Learning Center, the department is dedicated to providing students the ability to pursue internships and/or experiential learning opportunities. We are continually working to develop relationships with local businesses, professionals and government agencies to offer these services to graduate students.
After graduating from the MPAcc program, will I be eligible to take the CPA exam?
After students are accepted into the MPAcc Program, they meet with an academic advisor for an initial advising appointment, where they will discuss their career goals and long term academic plan. If your goal is to satisfy the requirements for the CPA exam, then you would tailor your academic plan so that you would be eligible by the time you completed the MPAcc Program. Please note that CPA exam eligibility requirements vary widely from state to state. Your educational background and the state in which you plan to sit for the exam will determine whether or not you will need to complete coursework above and beyond your MPAcc degree requirements in order to be eligible to sit for the CPA exam.
