Accreditation:
The master's programs at Metropolitan State University of Denver are regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), an accrediting unit of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA).
Steps for Applying to a Graduate Program at MSU Denver:
Below are the steps to take when applying to a Graduate program at Metropolitan State University of Denver.
- Contact the Academic Department for your program of interest to find out more information regarding eligibility, pre-requisites, and program specifics.
- Submit the Admissions Department-required documents to the Graduate Admissions Coordinator.
- Applicants will be notified through e-mail once application and application fee have been processed.
- Submit the Academic Department-required documents to the Program Coordinator.
- Once all required documents are received, the Academic Department will review and make an admissions decision.
- Applicants will be notified by mail once and admissions decision has been made.

Documents Required by Admissions:
The following items are to be submitted to the Office of Admissions by the dates and times listed above.

- $50 application fee (check or money order)
- Official transcripts from all previous Colleges or Universities attended
- Must be sent directly to MSU Denver from the issuing institution(s). We will accept an official copy in the original, sealed envelope from the issuing institution(s) as well.
- MSU Denver official transcripts do not need to be requested.
- Transcripts submitted prior to a current Undergraduate or Graduate admissions application will only be held by the Admissions Office for three months. After that time, if no new application is received, the transcripts will be destroyed.
- Foreign transcripts must also have an official English translation done by a certified translator (if applicable), and a professional course-by-course evaluation showing equivalency to a US Bachelor's degree.
- World Education Services (www.wes.org) or Education Credential Evaluators (www.ece.org) are recommended professional transcript evaluation service providers. If you prefer to use another company, please contact the Graduate Admissions Coordinator to confirm an evaluation from the service provider will be accepted.
- Test scores (as required by your program)
- Must be sent directly to MSU Denver from the testing center.
- PLACE/Praxis II exam scores are sent directly to the Teacher Education Department.
- Please review the program page to find out what additional documents are required for admission (i.e. letters of recommendation, resume, personal essay, etc.). These items should be submitted directly to the the Academic Department
Additional documents required for international applicants:

TOEFL scores (minimum score of 540 or 76 on the internet version) no older than two years.
- Certain substitutions for proof of English language proficiency may be made. Please contact the Graduate Admissions Coordinator for approval.
- Financial Support Documentation
- Documents can't be older than six months from the first day of class for the start term.
- Includes: current, official bank statement, affidavit or letter from financial sponsor, and/or letter from sponsor whom living with.
- Documents must be submitted in a sealed envelope from the bank or sponsor.

Current international, transfer students need to submit copies of previous I-20's Will also need to complete a SEVIS Transfer Form once accepted.
