WICHE WUE
Please submit all WUE application materials to Michelle Brown in the Office of Admissions, Student Success Building Room 180 by the deadline listed below.
What is WICHE WUE?
WICHE WUE is the Western Undergraduate Exchange, a program of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE). Through WUE, students in western states (AK, AZ, CA, HI, ID, MT, NV, NM, ND, OR, SD, UT, WA, WY) may enroll in many two-year and four-year college programs at a reduced tuition level: 150 percent of the institution’s regular resident tuition. WUE tuition is considerably less than non-resident tuition.
Conditions for enrollment underWue:
WUE is open to new students who meet both MSU Denver admission and WUE program requirements. Qualified students must apply and be admitted to MSU Denver and must submit the MSCD WUE App -Nov 2011 (
42 KB) to the Office of Admissions. This form must be submitted no later than the admissions application deadline for your initial term of enrollment at the College. The WUE program is not available to current MSU Denver students. Application deadlines can be found at: http://www.mscd.edu/admissions/.
Qualified students must score at least a 19 in all subsections of the ACT or 460 on the SAT math and 440 on the SAT verbal. Appropriate transfer courses or accuplacer test scores can also be used to satisfy these conditions.
WUE applicants over 23 must provide evidence of residency in one of the WUE participating states (AK, AZ, CA, HI, ID, MT, NV, NM, ND, OR, SD, UT, WA, WY). If the student is under 23, evidence of residency for both your parent/guardian and yourself is required. In order to verify your residency in one of the participating states, you must complete the residency verification form and submit a copy of one of the following credentials: driver’s license, state tax filing, or most recent pay stub or lease agreement/proof of home ownership.
Please note: If you are requesting to be a part of the WUE program, you are indicating you are not a Colorado resident and will not establish Colorado residency during your time of attendance at Metropolitan State University of Denver. If you plan on establishing your residency in Colorado and would like to petition for in-state benefits at Metropolitan State University of Denver during your time of attendance, it is recommended you do not claim another state as your state of residence. WUE students who change their residence to Colorado lose their WUE eligibility the following semester, but do not become eligible for in-state tuition rates until one year after establishing Colorado domicile. Because students under 23 are deemed to have the domicile of their parents, the WUE student seeking to change domicile to Colorado must show either: a change of the parents’ residence; or a change in the student’s residence after emancipation from the parents.
Maintaining WUE status:
Every semester, participants must maintain good academic standing (2.0 or better cumulative GPA), be enrolled in an approved major and meet with a Wue academic advisor to register for classes.
