Alternative Licensure Program Tuition

Tuition for the 2012-2013 year:

ALP 1 tuition is $5,100.00*. Ten credits are awarded during the fall semester and fifteen credits are awarded during the spring semester, for a total of 25 credits.

ALP 2 tuition is $5,100* for the first year. Ten credits are awarded for the fall semester and 20 credits are awarded for the spring semester, for a total of 30 credits. Second year ALP 2 candidates will receive coaching by a MSU Denver ALP coach. The cost for coaching during the second year is $2,100.00. Zero credits are awarded during the second year.

ALP SED (licensure only)tuition is $4,725* for each of the two years, for a total of $9,450. Twelve credits are awarded each semester for a total of 48 credits.

ALP SED MAT (graduate courses + licensure) tuition is $6,615* for each of the two years, for a total of $13,230. A total of 3 undergraduate credits and 37 graduate credits will be awarded.  To earn the master's degree, students enrolled in ALP SED MAT are required to take 3 additional courses outside of the ALP SED MAT program at an additional cost to the student. The tuition and fees for these additional courses will vary.

Option 1: Pay in full

  • Students may pay each semester's tuition and fees in full by the tuition and fee payment deadline, set by the Bursar's Office.
  • Students who pay in full by the deadline will not be charged additional monthly service charges.
  • If a District/school is willing to payroll deduct, students may have their tuition deducted from their monthly paycheck for eight (8) months, September-April.
  • Students who are payroll deducted will need to pay all fees personally. No fees will be payroll deducted.
  • Students who are payroll deducted will be charged additional monthly service charges, which cannot be payroll deducted.

Option 3: Pay in three equal payments This option is not available to 2nd year ALP 2 candidates teaching general education.

  • Students may pay each semester's tuition and fees in 3 equal payments. Payment deadline dates are set by the Bursar's Office.
  • Students who pay in 3 equal payments will be charged additional monthly service charges.

Option 4: Financial Aid This option is not available to 2nd year ALP 2 candidates teaching general education.

  • Students who would like to pay with financial aid must apply through FAFSA and then complete all the forms/steps through the MSU Denver Financial Aid Office.
  • In the event that the financial aid funds are not deposited into the student's account, by the payment deadline, or the funds do not cover the full amount due, the student must pay with Option 1, 2 or 3.
  • Once the funds are deposited, any overpayment will be refunded.
