Project #3 -The CHFA Foreclosure Prevention Challenge

Name: The CHFA Foreclosure Prevention Challenge
Partner: Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA)
Timeline: March 6 – April 3, 2009
The Overview
The student participants worked closely with the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) and their non-profit partners to continue to improve their foreclosure prevention efforts. The goal of this project was to create a marketing or outreach plan to encourage homeowners facing foreclosure in Douglas County to seek the free counseling services available through state and federal resources.
The Outcome
The team produced a 20 page marketing plan for CHFA, in addition to a suggested $25,000 budget that could be used to implement the marketing plan in the next year. They also created a functional website, which would allow homeowners facing foreclosure to access and submit information. Finally, the team provided CHFA with a list of creative ideas, which included utilizing new forms of social media, to help reach out to homeowners.

The Reward
The students enjoyed a night out on the town in Denver. First, they kicked off the evening with a scrumptious dinner at The Corner Office Restaurant. Then, they walked across the street to the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and attended a play. Finally, they went to The Curtis and were provided their own boutique hotel room for the rest of the night. The next morning, they topped off the reward with breakfast at The Corner Office Restaurant.
