On Tuesday, Oct. 27, the Metro State Foundation announced that it expects to close Friday on the nearly $1.5 million purchase of 965 Santa Fe Dr. to house its renowned off-campus art gallery, the Center for Visual Art. Bill Ritter presented the legislature’s Joint Budget Committee with an updated plan that closes a $271.4 million, recession-induced shortfall in the state’s current Fiscal Year 2009-10 budget. Alum's art exhibition benefits student scholarships Malcolm Farley, Metro State alumnus and former basketball star, will have more than 100 paintings and works on paper featured at "Creativity to the Mth Degree: Metro State presents Malcolm Farley". The series of week-long events will take place Nov. 11-17 at the Denver Pavilions, with 50 percent of the proceeds benefiting Metro State student scholarship funds. CLICK HERE to read more. SPECIAL NEWS FROM YOUR ALUMNI ASSOCIATION 2009-10 Innovation Challenge: Business plan competition for students and alumni Calling all entrepreneurs! The Business Plan Competition is a contest open to all Metro State students and alumni who have a business idea that solves a problem. Apply for the new Alumni Mentoring Program The Metro State Office of Alumni Relations and Alumni Association, in conjunction with the Metro State Scholars Program, are excited to announce a new pilot program. The Alumni Mentoring Program (AMP) will match alumni mentors with current students in the same course of study. The program will begin in January 2010 and a February launch event will bring all mentors and mentees together. The AMP will be a semester-long commitment, but the hope is that the program will facilitate a longer-term experience that will benefit both the mentor and the mentee. lf you are interested in becoming a mentor, please CLICK HERE and fill out the application form. All individuals submitting an application will be contacted by an Alumni Association representative. The deadline to apply is November 30, 2009. Note: Even if you responded to a graduate survey in the last two years expressing your interest in this program, we are requesting that you still complete this application.
