Master’s degree bill passes 2nd reading

The bill that will authorize Metro State to offer master’s degrees has passed another hurdle. The House of Representatives passed the second reading of HB-1295: A Bill for an Act Concerning Authorizing Metropolitan State College of Denver to Offer Master’s Degree Programs on March 16. UTP hosts national summit on urban teaching from April 1-3; Geoffrey Canada is keynote speaker

Metro State’s Urban Teacher Partnership (UTP) is gearing up to host the second annual Great Teachers for Our City Schools: A National Summit on Recruiting, Preparing and Retaining Quality Urban Teachers. One of the summit’s highlights will be the keynote speech by Geoffrey Canada, president and CEO of Harlem’s Children’s Zone, Inc. Men's track team sees first national champion

Metro State's Anthony Luna became the school's first-ever national champion in either indoor or outdoor track and field, winning the 800m run at the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships on Saturday, March 14. CLICK HERE to read more.

Promotions go to three on Alumni Relations team

Cherrelyn Napue, the former executive director of the alumni association, was recently named associate vice president for development and alumni relations.  A 1999 Metro State graduate, Cherrelyn is credited with revitalizing the alumni association's activities, programs and special event fundraising.  In her place, two of the current team members have been named as acting co-directors. Both Joshua Anderson and Janell Lindsey, who have supported alumni relations and enrollment services, respectively, are now taking on different roles.  Mr. Anderson will spearhead internal operations and programs at alumni relations and Ms. Lindsey will direct the activities of the alumni association. Job opportunities with the Metro State ACCESS Center

The ACCESS Center for Disability Accommodation & Adaptive Technology wants to hire Metro State alumni to work with students who have learning, physical and/or visual disabilities. The reader/scribe position entails assisting students with the reading and writing of their exams along with them. The position pays $10 an hour and is ideal for someone who has flexibility in their schedule and is only looking for part-time work.
