Cadet Community Leadership Association
The Cadet Community Leadership Association (CCLA) exists to support the future officers of the Army ROTC program at Metro State University of Denver. It pays to send Cadets to participate in events such as the Bataan Memorial Death March, Boulder Boulder, and other events throughout the school year.
Each year, since 2008, the CCLA organizes and sponsors the Denver Veterans Day 5k Run/Walk on Auraria Campus. It helps fund the CCLA and supports the Russel B. Rippetoe Foundation. Cpt Russel B. Rippetoe was killed in Iraq on April 3rd, 2003 by a Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device while serving with the 75th Ranger Regiment. He was an alumni of the Army ROTC Program at Metro State University, and in honor of his memory the Russel B. Rippetoe Foundation was created. Each year, the Russel B. Rippetoe Foundation awards the Rippetoe Saber Award and Scholarship to an outstanding senior army cadet, who has performed admirably through the four years of his officer training.
