Charge
The purpose of the SPS Assessment Committee is to review and develop policies consistent with the School's Mission and to provide guidance for all School of Professional Studies processes related to assessment of student learning. Members will also serve as advocates for assessment within their departments and the school.
In collaboration with the director of student learning assessment, the committee will facilitate assessment activities across the School of Professional Studies by providing assistance to each program in the development and improvement of assessment activities. It is understood that different programs are at different stages of assessment of student learning. The committee should ensure that all programs are moving toward excellence in assessing student learning. Ultimately, the assessment plan should include, but not be limited to:
- Clearly articulated learning objectives
- Curriculum map
- Established standards
- Gathering of evidence
- Analysis of evidence
- Utilization of findings for improvement
The committee will review all assessment reports from SPS programs and departments and provide faculty and chairs with feedback regarding next steps in moving towards best practices.
Members of the committee will participate in the college assessment peer review process annually.
The committee shall report the results of the assessment activities as requested by the school and college.
