Committee Charge

The Institutional Assessment Committee is comprised of faculty and administrators who have an interest in the assessment of student learning.  Membership is reaffirmed each fall semester.  The Director of Student Learning Assessment chairs the committee.

The committee is charged with:

  • supporting the Director by serving as advocates for effective and efficient assessment of student learning
  • advising on proposed policies related to assessment of student learning and proposing policies where appropriate
  • supporting data gathering and analysis from a variety of sources related to student experiences both within and outside of the classroom
  • identifying and communicating best practices regarding assessment of student learning and acknowledging and rewarding exemplary programs
  • participating in the development of the annual assessment report model or template and the peer review rubric
  • participating in the peer review of assessment reports
  • providing input to data gathering questions and issues related to student surveys
  • providing input to college-level assessment planning and implementation
  • facilitating the integration and communication of various types of assessment findings
  • reinforcing the importance of “closing the loop” and using assessment findings for program improvement
  • collaborating with relevant committees, including those related to curriculum and faculty development, where appropriate
  • participating in institutional accreditation activities
