Who May Apply?

Any migrant or seasonally employed agricultural worker or his/her children, spouse or other immediate family member* who meets all three (3) qualifications:

The student has a high school diploma or GED
The student is a U.S. Citizen or a permanent resident
The student or a family member within the household is considered Migrant or Seasonal, by either:

Having been enrolled in a Migrant Education Program at any point up until they graduated high school.

Having participated in the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Program-167.

Having worked a minimum of 75 days in qualifying farm work within the last 24 months

Jobs that qualify:

Types of qualifying farm work must be:

Seasonal or migrant
Cultivation or harvesting (pick, plant, maintain, or slaughter)
Work directly involved with the plant or animal

Specific examples of work that normally qualifies as seasonal or migrant:

Planting or harvesting (i.e. beans, corn, etc.)
Farm (or ranch) irrigation, etc.
Orchards
Packing of eggs, fruits, vegetables, etc.
Dairy Farms
Animal Farming/Ranching
Slaughterhouse
Transportation of livestock
Plant nurseries/sod farms
Fish farms

Specific jobs that do not qualify as seasonal or migrant:

Meatpacking
Landscaping
