Career Assessments

The assessments are available to students, alumni, faculty and staff of Metropolitan State University of Denver, and community members. The fee structures vary. Assessment results are available to you through your participation in a small-group workshop.

  • The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI®). One of the most important motivations for career choice is a desire for work that is intrinsically interesting and satisfying and that will permit use of one's own personality strengths. The MBTI® is utilized to assist individuals as they identify their personality strengths, preferred work environments, communication styles, and career possibilities. While no occupation provides a perfect match between personality and work tasks, this indicator will assist you in making an informed decision. Estimated completion time: 1/2 hour. Interpretation: 1 hour 30 min small group workshop.

  • The Strong Interest Inventory (SII®) . This inventory provides detailed information regarding an individual's career-related and leisure interests. Identified interest patterns are compared to people actively working in a wide variety of occupations. The power of the SII® rests on two assumptions: (1) activities typical of an occupation are reflected in the interests of the people who are employed in it, and (2) those who have similar patterns of interests will be satisfied in an occupation if they have compatible values and the necessary knowledge and abilities. Estimated completion time: 1/2 hour. Interpretation: 1 hour 30 min hour small group workshop.
