Information Booths: Employers can reserve a table on campus to informally connect with prospective students and talk about their organization.

Information Sessions: Employers may give formal presentations on campus about their organizations and what qualities they are looking for in employees.

On-Campus Interviewing: The process by which employers with job vacancies post their position description on our on-line system. Students then submit their resumes, and then the employer review them and coordinate a time to conduct interviews. Interviews must be conducted during the Office of Career Services' recruiting season and scheduled 6 weeks in advance.

Featured Employer Spot Your linked logo will appear on the front page of the Metro State Career Services for 1 month and will be included on our monthly email to students.

Job Fairs: Events for employers to meet prospective applicants and provide students and alumni with information about their organization and open positions

On-line Recruiting System: Through our online recruiting system, Metro State JobLink, employers can post job opportunities, conduct resume searches of students and alumni, register for job fairs, view upcoming events, coordinate on-campus interviews, and perform additional customized recruiting services.

Partnering and Sponsorships: Additional opportunities for employers to become involved with the Office of Career Services or connect with students (doing presentations, sponsoring events, etc.)
Who Qualifies: Criteria for Employers and Jobs
The following policy is established to determine eligibility of an employing organization or individual to utilize any employer services at Metropolitan State College of Denver, in accordance with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Principles for Professional Conduct.
Eligible Employers...

Must have current or anticipated job openings for college graduates or alumni.

Must have an "employer-employee" relationship in which there are no fees associated with becoming an employee of the organization, other than professional licensure fees for career employees that may be necessary to be paid by employee.

Must comply with all federal, state, and local Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws and regulations.

Must have a payroll and human resources liaison to which the student employee may seek recourse in the event of a workplace conflict or dispute.

Third Party Agencies (temporary agencies, temp-to-hire agencies, search firms, etc.) can participate in career fairs and post jobs on Metro JobLink only. The following requirements must be met:

Provides disclosure of position(s) posted on Metro JobLink and employer he/she represents for recruiting activities;
-
Acknowledges that Career Services may verify with employer the third party recruiter relationship;
-
Provides information concerning Metropolitan State College of Denver candidates employed through the agency (candidate, employer, and salary);
-
Promises to not use resumes attained from job postings for referral to any other job or employer; and
-
Acknowledges that third party agencies are not eligible for other employer services.
Ineligible Employers

Any employer who does not meet one or more of the "Eligble Employer" criteria

Home Based Businesses
-
Network Marketing Organizations and Franchise/Business Opportunities are not considered "employers" by the Office of Career Services and are not eligible to participate in any employer services. Such organizations are those that engage in one or more of the following practices:

Sponsorship of an individual in setting up his/her own business for the purpose of selling products or services and/or recruiting other individuals to set up their own business. (i.e. Direct Sales Organizations)

Requirement of an initial investment from individuals, with the organization itself serving as an Umbrella or Parent Corporation. The initial investment may be direct payment of a fixed fee, payment to attend an orientation or training session, and/or purchase of a starter kit.

Compensation is often or exclusively in the form of straight commission, fees from others under their sponsorship in the organization, and/or a percentage of sales generated by others.
Ineligible Jobs

Commission-only positions
-
Positions where the pay rate is less than the Colorado state minimum wage (calculated over any time scale such as hourly, weekly, semi-monthly, monthly or annually).

Unpaid internships
The Office of Career Services reserves the right to deem any organization ineligible whose policies or goals are determined to be in conflict with the mission of Metropolitan State College of Denver. The final approval for employers to utilize campus facilities and services rests with the Director of the Office Career Services.
Cancellations and Rescheduling
If you need to cancel or reschedule your on-campus interviews, information table or information session please notify Office of Career Services staff as soon as possible. If you need to reschedule your on-campus interviews, we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Information Booth/Session: Cancellations with less than 48 hours notice, or no shows, will be charged the full fee amount, NO REFUNDS.

On Campus Interviews: Cancellations <5 days will be charged the full fee amount, NO REFUNDS and will be documented and consideration for future events will be evaluated.
In compliance with Auraria Campus policies and procedures, Employers must abide by the following during their time on campus:

Can provide information about your company and its open positions to the campus community. Such companies are NOT authorized to sell products or services, but may disseminate information regarding them.

Small portable multi-media (music, audio-video) systems are allowed at the outdoor Tivoli and center-campus info table locations when those are an integral part of the info program, provided the sound level is limited to being only audible within the immediate vicinity (approximately 6 feet) of the reserved table space. These systems are not allowed in any other info table locations (classroom buildings, etc). To ensure that adjacent functions and activities are not interfered with, the Auraria Campus Education Services (ACES) staff reserves the right to request that sound levels be lowered or turned off. The use of a portable system must be identified at the time the reservation is placed. Power is not available for these systems, so they must be self-contained. Bands, amplified instruments, speakers, performances, radio station broadcasts and other functions of this nature are not permitted under the Information Table Space Guidelines. These functions must be scheduled as a special event/festival

All items must be removed, including trash and debris, from the info table area daily. Items must not be left overnight, including signage, etc.

Shouting or other noisy attraction methods designed to gather attention to the info space are not permitted. For indoor info spaces, activities must take place from behind the assigned table so as not to interfere with ingress/egress through the buildings. For outdoor info spaces (at the center-campus area of Central Classroom/ exterior Plaza) activities must take place within the area of the assigned table. Activities must not impede pedestrian traffic.

Due to fire regulations and Governor's Order on smoking, burning of materials of any kind is not allowed. This includes cigarettes, incense burning, etc.

The use of info tables for the sale or distribution of food or other products is not allowed.

Credit card/calling card vendors are not allowed to be solicited at info tables

A copy of all distributed materials must be provided to the Office of Career Services no later than the start of the info session/table/interview.

No personal information may be collected from anyone on campus other than common contact information (name, email address, phone number)
Employers are expected to maintain the confidentiality of all student and alumni information. Sharing information about a candidate with another organization is not acceptable unless the employer receives prior written consent from the candidate.
Employers are not allowed to recruit students or alumni who have already accepted a job offer from another organization. Employers are expected to communicate with the candidates in a timely manner regarding the hiring decisions within the agreed-upon time frame. All job offers will be given a reasonable amount of time for the decision-making process by the candidate as well as accurate information about position responsibilities, career advancement opportunities and benefits.
Employers are expected to avoid discrimination in their recruitment process and follow equal employment opportunity and affirmative action principles.

Misrepresentation of employer information

Complaints by students and alumni

Candidates will not be placed under unnecessary pressure to make a decision.

Positions not likely to be of interest to Metro State students and alumni

Harassment of Metro State students, alumni, staff or faculty

Disclosure of confidential information without consent of the candidate

Failure to comply with Metropolitan State College of Denver's Employer Policies
