Career Opportunities with a Major in Mechanical Engineering Technology

Many jobs require a college educated individual. College graduates can use their education in a wide variety of occupations.

Mechanical Engineering Technology majors seek careers utilizing the practical application of science, mathematics and energy in the design and development of machines and related mechanical equipment that produce and use power as well as those used in manufacturing products, in an economical and efficient manner.

Graduates of the Mechanical Engineering Technology program are called engineering technologists. About 10 percent become registered Professional Engineers and enter consulting work. A smaller percentage pursue advanced degrees. The majority gain employment and work side-by-side with engineers in sales, design, development, testing, and supervisory positions in a variety of engineering and manufacturing companies and organizations.
