About the Center for Faculty Development
The Center for Faculty Development strives to advance MSU Denver as a learning organization committed to excellence in higher education. Characteristics that define a learning organization include:
- An ongoing culture of evidence and inquiry;
- A commitment to answering institution-wide questions with a scholarly approach;
- A commitment to approaching institution-wide questions as learners first and foremost;
- The connection of organizational learning to the institutional mission.
Within the framework of a learning organization, the CFD fosters excellence in teaching and learning and promotes vitality in all areas of professional responsibility by partnering with faculty in inquiry, in exploring self-awareness, and in applying new learning and insights with intention.
The CFD accomplishes this mission through a variety of initiatives that include, but are not limited to, faculty learning communities, peer instructional coaching, workshops on teaching and learning, and new faculty mentoring. The CFD is also available for one-on-one consulting for any faculty member who seeks input and assistance in any area of their professional lives. The CFD has a growing collection of resources and materials on the topic of faculty development, and if we do not have the expertise or materials to address individuals' requests or needs, we will find them and make them available.
The CFD welcomes input from faculty with proposals for how the Center can further the educational mission of MSU Denver.
