Center Staff
All of our advisors are here to assist you. All are generalists and have helped students develop a wide range of Individualized Degree Programs and to earn prior learning credit. They also have diverse backgrounds and interests.
Dr. Elizabeth Parmelee, Director, has a background in International Studies, education, and non-profit management. She has taught economics in Chile and Boston, and has worked with universities and public school districts to enhance education at all levels. eparmel1@mscd.edu
Dr. Colby Hatfield, a cultural anthropologist, is a part-time advisor with the Center. He has experience in the University Without Walls, is director of the Honors Program at Regis, has taught anthropology at Metro and at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and worked in community and economic development in Tanzania. hatfield@mscd.edu
Dr. Christine Flug, Assistant Director, has a background in academic administration, particularly retention programming. A long-time instructor of composition, she earned a docorate in English Literature. She has worked and taught at Harvard, the University of New Orleans, and the Community College of Denver, and brings to the unit a rich experience in student support, interdisciplnary learning, and music. cflug@mscd.edu
Sharon Wise, Portfolio Development Workshop instructor, has a background in college administration and teaching. She has presented at numerous national conferences and two international conferences on the subjects of disability and mental health service delivery and program development. swise8@mscd.edu
Susan Lovato, Administrative Assistant, has been with Metro for several years. She has worked with the STEPS grant and the Department of Math and Computer Sciences. lovatos@mscd.edu
Our work-study student staff members are also here to help you. Several are pursuing Individualized Degree Programs themselves. They are: Kristine Shafer, Tonnia Hymes-Balsley, Farah Sharafabady. and Thoa Doan.
