Auraria Writers Week 2013
On Monday, March 18, 2013, from 11:00-2 pm, in Tivoli 320 AB, faculty members from MSU Denver, the University of Colorado Denver, and the Community Colllege of Denver will be reading from their creative works as part of the Auraria Writers Spotlight. On Tuesday, March 19, from noon until 1:15 pm, in Tivoli 320BC, editors, authors and agents will conduct a forum on “The State of Publishing.” The book business has changed dramatically over the last 5 years. Come get the best advice from the experts about how to publish in today’s market. The forum will feature Kristin Nelson, President of Nelson Literary Agency; Lynda Hilburn, writer of Kismet Knight, Vampire Psychologist series; Jennifer Ryan, Managing Editor of Fulcrum Books; and Betsy Dormbusch, Author & Editor of Electric Spec. On Wednesday, March 20, 2013, from 11-12:15 and again from 2-3:15 pm in Tivoli Turnhalle, award-winning author Gish Jen will be reading from her recent works and answering questions in two talks entitled “Gish Jen: Atypical American Author.” Jen will focus on her creative writing at the 11 am event, and on her new collection of essays adapted from her Massey Lectures in American Civilization delivered at Harvard University in 2012.
