Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) Exam

Taking the FE exam (not part of the review) is the ultimate goal of the  FE review. The FE exam application process needs to be completed before the date of the review registration deadline.

Exam Information

  • Dates subject to change. 
  • Eligibility to take the exam as a MSU Denver student: 
    • Under revised rules and regulations of the Colorado State Board for Registration for Architects, Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors, students within 30 semester hours of graduation may take the Fundamentals of Engineering Examination.
    • Your graduation status for taking the exam is determined on the FE application deadline date.
      • For planned Fall 2012 graduation you are a student on December 1, 2012 apply for the Spring 2013 exam as a student. 
      • For planned Spring 2013 graduation you are a non-student on July 1, 2013 apply as a non-student below for the Fall 2013 exam. 
      • For planned Summer 2013 graduation you are a student on July 1, 2013 apply as a student for the Fall 2013 exam.
  • Ultimately exam eligibility resides with the Colorado State Board for Registration for Architects, Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors.
  • MSU Denver ET students must do both steps to take the F. E. Exam: 

    • Step 1 Application (for current MSU Denver ET students only)
      • Get the FE Exam Student Application (for current students only) at Colorado State Board links:
      • When you fill out the form
        • No hand written forms! The form must be typed and then printed.
        • Use the correct form! You can not use a form for an October Exam for the April Exam or any old forms.
        • Use your MSU Denver e-mail.
        • COMPLETE ALL QUESTIONS.
      • Before Fall: (TBA), Spring:  February 5th, 2013 return form with $30.00 check (payable to State of Colorado) to Linda Succo in PL262.
    • Step 2 Testing Agency Application
  • Non-Students (graduates) must obtain FE Exam applications and apply through the Colorado State Board of Licensure for Architects, Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors by December 1st prior to the April exam; June 1st prior to the October exam (see board link below for other date details).

  • The F.E. Examination is given by the Colorado State Board of Licensure for Architects, Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors in April and October .
