Getting Started Teaching Online
- Discuss your plans with another faculty member who has taught an online/hybrid course. If your department has no or limited experience teaching in online/hybrid environments, discuss online/hybrid teaching with one or more faculty from other departments who have experience teaching online courses.
- Work with your department chair through the Course Creation and Approval Process.
- When you have been assigned to teach an online/hybrid course, contact the Office of Web & Instructional Technology (WIT) via the online service request form or at 303.556.3600 for assistance with administrative issues and for information about course management software training and course material preparation.
- Consider the technical skills, training and certification you may want to acquire before teaching online. Sign up for the Online Faculty Orientation Course, and consider enrolling in the Online Faculty Certification Program courses.
- Explore the tab sections above on this website for an introduction to Instructional Design and Online Course Development.
- REMEMBER: The course planning and development process takes minimally 1-2 semesters. You must plan ahead if you are going to meet your course development deadline.
