Bio:
Mendez-Shannon teaches Program Need, Design and Development, Health and Healthcare and Legal Issues in Social Work.
She has taught at Metropolitan State University of Denver since 2011.
Mendez-Shannon has published a number of papers, including “The Life of a Community Seen Through a Strengths Perspective Approach” and “Stutter Across America: A Report.”
Mendez-Shannon’s career in social work began in 1993. Mendez-Shannon serves as a behavior health specialist with Clinica Campesina in Boulder, Colo. From 2001–02 she led a mobile crisis team in New York, where she helped provide therapy to children and families affected by the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
