About Extended Campus
The Extended Campus programs of Metropolitan State College of Denver bring education off the Auraria campus directly to a diverse and widespread metropolitan community. Through off-campus sites, distance learning opportunities, class times tailored for busy schedules, and responsive customer service, Extended Campus promotes lifelong learning throughout the Denver metropolitan area.
Today, Extended Campus includes two satellite campus locations: Metro South and Metro North, which serve suburban residents and businesses. It also encompasses a variety of distance delivery learning options including telecourses, and correspondence courses. In addition, a variety of time formats such as accelerated, weekend, and evening classes make higher education accessible to adults with time constraints.
Extended Campus also administers specialized educational programs such as the Center for Improving Early Learning, the Teacher in Residence program, and the Surveying and Mapping Distance Delivery program. It also develops partnerships with other community organizations, such as the degree seeking RN to BSN program at Porter Adventist Hospital.
Extended Campus was created in 1976 by Metropolitan State College of Denver to meet the needs of adult learners living and working throughout the Denver metropolitan area. Extended Campus students, primarily working adults, reflect a remarkable diversity of backgrounds and educational goals. As older students, they bring a host of life experiences to the classroom, making them active participants in the learning experience.
