Classes for MSU Denver North Campus
EDU 4700, Substitute Teacher Workshop, CRN 41051. Class meets Saturday, July 27 and Saturday, August 3, from 9am-5pm. This course provides the background knowledge, methods, techniques and materials for substitute teachers at the elementary and middle school levels to be more confident and competent substitute instructors.
HSP 4300, Emotional Response to Terrorism, CRN 40908. Class meets on Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20, from 9am-5pm. This course is designed to explore the impact of increased terrorist events worldwide. The course prepares students to respond to psychological and physical terrorist events. Topics covered in this class are: preparedness; intervention; and mitigation.
RECR 393J, Grant Writing and Funding Workshop, CRN 41007. Class meets on Tuesday, May 28 and Thursday, May 30, from 8:30am-5pm. This course provides the student with an understanding of government and private funding sources, resources to locate funding agencies, and an opportunity to write an outline for a grant proposal.

CPD 2300, Time Management, CRN 41166. Class meets on Saturday, July 13 and Saturday, July 20, from 9am-5pm. This course is designed to enable women and men to analyze their use of time, identify factors that contribute to wasting time, and improve use of time through better prioritizing, scheduling, and increased motivation.
CPD 2310, Stress Management, CRN 41169. Class meets on Saturday, July 27 and Saturday, August 3, from 9am-5pm. This course will help students identify their own causes of stress and then deal with those causes prescriptively. Discussions will focus on understanding stress theory, personality attributes that contribute to stress, stress in the work environment, and relationship stress.
CPD 2320, Self Esteem, CRN 34723. Class meets on Saturday, April 20 and Saturday, April 27, from 9am-5pm. This course will explore the issues of self-esteem within a feminist framework, including the effects of sexism on self-worth, the role of women in a sexist society, and the tools needed to survive with a strong self-image. The goal is to apply what is learned to enhancing everyday living through an understanding of societal, familial, and self-induced pressures.
CPD 2370, Money Issues for Women, CRN 41173. Class mees on Saturday, June 15 and Saturday, June 22, from 9am-5pm. The economic and social circumstances of women’s lives in the United States often place them in a different material and psychological relationship to money and issues surrounding money than men. This course will review a variety of issues women face when planning for the future, as well as some of the tools used to build a secure future.
EDU 4300/SPE 4300/THE 4300, Acting Like a Teacher, CRN 41039/40520/40521. Class meets on Saturdays, June 8 - June 29, from 9:00am-4:00pm. This class examines and explores the formation of classroom presence using a variety of acting, speaking and vocal techniques to develop, build, and encourage skills supporting an effective classroom persona. Students will practice and demonstrate body movement, posture, and deportment skills along with verbal and nonverbal communication skills to support classroom management and motivate pupil attention and engagement. Students will identify, learn, and practice intentional vocal and visual techniques to make instructional communication more effective.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
The office of Continuing Professional Education administered through the MSU Denver North Campus location participates in the development and delivery of programs that address the continuing education needs of professionals in the community.
Purpose of CEU Credits
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are useful for keeping a cumulative record of noncredit study. They are designed for use where employers, re-licensure agencies and other authorities require a specific number of hours of study for career advancement or re-licensure.
Evaluation of CEU Credits
Programs are evaluated before CEUs are awarded. CEU certification is based on one CEU for each ten (10) contact hours of participation. Certificates are issued and records are held by MSU Denver's Office of Continuing Professional Education for 7 years or as directed by a given regulatory agency.
Noncredit Paralegal Certificate Course
This intensive, nationally acclaimed program is designed for beginning as well as advanced legal workers. Students will be trained to assist trial lawyers, interview witnesses, investigate complex fact patterns, research the law and assist in preparing cases for litigation. The 84 hours of instruction are provided by The Center for Legal Studies.
