Developmental Trajectories
Developmental trajectories describe a predictable progression of levels for a certain concept or skill. They are not necessarily tied to a specific age, although generally the commonality of developmental trajectories exists in children of similar ages. While for some skills and concepts developmental trajectories are well established, for others they remain fairly vague. Vygotskians believe that both child maturation and the child’s learning experiences shape each individual child’s trajectory for acquiring skills and concepts.
