Preschool

The first year emphasizes the management of the classroom and the development of self-regulation through high-level mature play. Workshops focus on helping teachers plan and develop rich play themes for children when they engage in mature dramatic play. Teachers also learn an array of literacy, math, and science activities that are designed to promote self-regulation through specific Vygotskian techniques.

The second year emphasizes individualization, better accommodation of children with special needs, and assessment of child learning. The specific details of the professional development process are flexible and are negotiated with the district.
