Office of Facilities Planning

 

The role of Facilities Planning is to oversee issues dealing with space for the college. These duties include securing campus input on such issues as direction, establishing priorities, reviewing space decisions, and providing effective communication regarding planning and allocation. The Facilities Planner directs, monitors, and coordinates the utilization of space by Metro State, tying all space-related activity to Metro State’s strategic and academic plans and to the goals of the college.

The Facilities Planner:

  • Coordinates remodeling and renovation requests and acts as central internal and external liaison on these issues, working closely with the AHEC Project Manager and contractors to develop scheduling.

  • Chairs the Space Planning, Allocation, and Resource Committee and provides liaison with four other committees the deal with space and facilities on campus.

  • Generates and administers a consistent, equitable, and practicable facilities plan for Metro State.

  • Evaluates and documents controlled maintenance needs, life and safety issues, and space inventory of the college.

  • Works with College Communications to inform campus community of all remodeling projects, safety concerns, and campus office moves.

  • Coordinates, writes, and implements new agreements in regards to space utilization between colleges or departments.

  • Monitors legislative and CCHE actions related to capital construction and controlled maintenance.
