Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships News
The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships and other student administrative offices have been relocated to the new Student Success Building located near the Tivoli. FAFSA for 2013-2014 becomes available January 1, 2013. Priority deadline for students to have complete financial aid files is April 1, 2013. The IRS Data Retrieval is available to students and parents after ten business days of filing federal income taxes. Financial aid disbursements for Spring 2013 begin January 12, 2013 for students with complete financial aid files who are not on suspension as of this date. The MSU Denver Scholarship application for the 2013-2014 aid year will be available on the Scholarship page starting December 1, 2012. Priority deadline for applications is March 1, 2013. The deadline for Fall SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress) Appeals is December 1, 2012. SAP appeals for Spring 2013 are being held for students who are enrolled in the current semester until grades post on December 20, 2012. Appeals have a processing wait time of 5-7 business days. The deadline to turn in “fall only” Stafford, PLUS, alternative loan applications and loan re-evaluation is December 1, 2012. Transfer students who were enrolled in another institution during the Fall 2012 semester must make sure that their federal aid has been cancelled with the prior institution before they can receive aid at MSU Denver for the Spring 2013 semester. The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships has a form available for you to take to your prior institution to complete this process on the forms page. It is important for students to become familiar with the NSLDS (National Student Loan Data Systems) website at www.nslds.ed.gov to keep track of their federal student aid. This site keeps track of how much a student has received in both Stafford Loans and Federal Pell Grant. See our Debt Management page for more information. IMPORTANT: Email is the official form of communication at Metropolitan State University of Denver. All financial aid correspondence is sent to students via their ConnectU email accounts. Check your school email often. If you would like to speak to a financial aid counselor, they are on-call from 8AM-4:30PM, Monday-Thursday. Counselors are not available to see students on Friday. Individual counselor schedules can be found by clicking the Counselor On-Call Schedule.
