How to Accept 2008-2009 Federal Stafford Loans

The Office of Financial Aid will now make available the ability to view and accept Federal Stafford loans online via MetroConnect.   Students may accept the full amount, a reduced amount, or decline loans through MetroConnect.   First time borrowers at Metropolitan State College are required to complete an entrance counseling session and a Master Promissory Note (MPN) after accepting Federal Stafford Loans.  The Office of Financial Aid uses StudentLoanOnline™ to manage these processes.

To accept your Federal Stafford loans, you must have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file for the 2008-09 academic year. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is also required for need-based aid and scholarships and may be completed online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

For the 2008-2009 aid year students are required to submit their initial loan acceptance via MetroConnect. You will have the option to accept the entire amount that is "Offered" or you may select to accept a partial amount. Students who accept a partial amount will have the oppurtnity to request the additional funds that they are eligible to receive.
