How to Accept 2009-20010 Federal Direct Stafford Loans
(Fall 2009 and Spring 2010)
The Office of Financial Aid will now make available the ability to view and accept Federal Direct Stafford loans online via MetroConnect. Students may accept the full amount, a reduced amount, or decline loans through MetroConnect. First time borrowers at Metropolitan State College are required to complete an entrance counseling session and a Master Promissory Note (MPN) after accepting Federal Direct Stafford Loans. The Office of Financial Aid uses the Department of Education to manage these processes.
To accept your Federal Direct Stafford loans, you must have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file for the 2009-2010 academic year. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is also required for need-based aid and scholarships and may be completed online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
For the 2009-2010 aid year students are required to submit their initial loan acceptance via MetroConnect. You will have the option to accept the entire amount that is "Offered" or you may select to accept a partial amount. Students who accept a partial amount will have the oppurtnity to request the additional funds that they are eligible to receive.
