First Year Success Student Ambassador Application
First Year Success is seeking highly motivated students who are interested in helping first year students at MSU Denver as they transition into their first year of college. Student Ambassadors are enthusiastic MSU Denver Students looking to role model their student experience. Student Ambassadors will learn valuable leadership skills and gain a further understanding of MSU Denver's enrollment process. Student Ambassadors must be able to connect students to campus resources and lead small groups through their first year experience.
Qualifications:
- Previous participant of the First Year Success program learning communities.
- A current MSU Denver student.
- Must hold and maintain a cumulative GPA of a 3.0 or above.
- Must be taking at least 12 credit hours every spring and fall semester.
- Each Student Ambassador may only take a maximum of 6 credits online or 3 credits in class during the summer semesters.
- Campus involvement is preferred.
- Be in good disciplinary standing with Metro State.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills.
- Each Student Ambassador is self-motivated and a team player.
- Must be confident and have a high level of enthusiasm and school spirit.
- Must conduct self in a professional manner and show a commitment of diversity and learning.
- Ability to relate well with students, parents, faculty, and staff.

Potential Student Ambassadors are required to attend the following:
-First Year Success Convocation
-Appearances at SOAR orientations as needed
Job Responsibilities/Roles:
-Mentor and peer advise first year MSU Denver students.
-Connect students to resources and departments around campus.
-Program education and outreach to perspective MSU Denver Students and their families as well as faculty and staff on campus.
Campus Duties:
-Attend MSU Denver's open house.
-Attend and participate in all First Year Success programming and activities.
-Promote and educate new students, faculty and staff about the First Year Success Program.
-Administrative support and some event planning.
-Basic office skills as well as answering phones and knowledge of campus resources.
-Assists in the creation and development of First Year events.
-Other duties as assigned.
Skills:
-Basic knowledge of Microsoft office.
-Excellent organization and multi-tasking skills.
-Knowledge of "Banner A Plus".
